Our provider performs comprehensive psychiatric evaluations to rule out or diagnose emotional, behavioral, or developmental disorders. These evaluations can be performed with children, adolescents, or adults. The provider considers behaviors present and in relation to medical, genetic, environmental, social, cognitive (thinking), emotional, and educational parts that may be negatively affected as a result of these behaviors. If you are experiencing distressing symptoms, a proper psychiatric evaluation is required to be correctly diagnosed. This is one important part of your mental health treatment plan meaning you will receive the right treatment for the right diagnosis! During the evaluation, she may use questionnaires or interview techniques to gather information about your mental health condition. The great part? There are no wrong answers!
Wait a minute? You weren’t planning on taking medication? Medication management is one of the intricate parts of your mental health treatment that our providers not only believe work, but will only recommend if necessary. Guess what? The provider also knows that medications are not magic. If you receive a psychiatric diagnosis, the provider will discuss in detail if she recommends medication, along with other interventions, based on the disorder that she feels you are experiencing. This means you can start feeling your best as soon as possible, but it may take a little work on your part, too, which brings us to our next topic of brief psychotherapy.
When you know the core of your mental health symptoms and can understand each of the steps in your treatment plan, you can feel confident in your psychiatric care. You wouldn’t expect to build a house without a hammer, nails, level, or wood, would you? Our provider will discuss therapeutic interventions during your visits so that you can have the tools you need to combat your symptoms with an improved insight of yourself. If our provider thinks you need more in depth therapy, you will get just that! Therapy is an FDA approved means to helping you feel better, which means there’s research to back it up. Our provider uses evidenced based practice for all of her patients in the clinic.
Computerized Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) testing is offered to patients from six-years old and up to 60 years old. The provider will discuss with you if she feels you require this testing to confirm or rule out ADHD. The computerized QbTech test can be done via telehealth (Qbcheck) in the comfort of your own home. Your provider will discuss with each patient their QBTest results, and what they mean in regards to an ADHD diagnosis. Explore more information, find about Qb, what they have to offer, and how they are modernizing ADHD evaluations.
For school-aged patients, we also ask that Vanderbilt scales be completed by teachers.
Our provider understands that you may have felt no relief with medications in the past, which can become troubling when deciding how to feel your best. While there are many reasons this can happen, one reason is your genetic composition. Our NP may be able to offer specific testing (Genesight) that provides a picture of how your body and mind may benefit from one medication versus another. She has used Genesight testing for years, which can provide her with information, that has helped many patients who had lost hope in medicinal interventions. If you or your child would benefit from this testing, or if you are interested in this testing because of many medication let downs, this may be the answer for you.
An ESA letter is a document that serves as proof of one’s need for an emotional support animal as a form of treatment for a qualifying mental health condition. ESA letters are written and assigned on an individual basis and allow the right to keep an emotional support animal in a residence under the Fair Housing Act (FHA) – regardless of landlord rules/housing policies.
A legitimate ESA letter also serves as a legal exemption from pet rent or pet deposits. An ESA letter must be provided by a licensed mental health practitioner to be considered legitimate, and must include the patient's name, date of birth, and confirmation of the patient's qualifying mental health disorder. Don't worry, your actual diagnoses won't be shared!
