GoodMind is a psychiatric practice that provides online mental health services for individuals ages 18 and up. Our provider is licensed in the following states: Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Nevada, and New Mexico.
Psychiatric nurse practitioners and psychologists or therapists are all mental health professionals, but they have different educational backgrounds. Psychiatric nurse practitioners are medical providers, who completed a Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) program, which includes classroom education along with hundreds of clinical hours with board-certified providers. Psychiatric nurse practitioners can prescribe medication in addition to providing psychotherapy.
Psychologists and therapists, on the other hand, have advanced degrees in psychology and provide therapy services, but do not prescribe medication. While both professions play crucial roles in mental healthcare, the key difference lies in the treatment approach, with psychiatric nurse practitioners utilizing medication as a tool in addition to therapy, while psychologists primarily focus on talk therapy and behavior modification.
We do offer brief psychotherapy along with medication management, but if you are in need of more in-depth therapy sessions, we recommend finding a therapist in your area.
No. Due to the nature of our telehealth visits, we cannot provide the level-of-care needed for some diagnoses such as Bipolar Disorder or other mood disorders, Schizophrenia, Substance Use Disorder, etc. and believe you are better served by completing a more in-depth evaluation with an in-person provider.
Side effects of medication can vary, ranging from short-term to long-term effects. Some may dissipate over time, while others may persist. If it’s determined that a side effect is undesirable and unlikely to resolve on its own, discussing a medication change is advisable.
In many cases, side effects can be managed by adjusting the dose, frequency, or timing of medication intake. Our experienced medical staff is here to assist you in determining the most appropriate course of action.
At this time, we only prescribe stimulants if you reside in Kentucky and have been diagnosed with ADHD. Our provider will also request an EKG with normal interpretation be sent for review prior to prescribing a stimulant prescription.
No. These are not medications we offer and will not prescribe nor will we taper you off of these medications. If you feel that you must have a benzodiazepine (Xanax Klonopin, Ativan, Valium, etc), then we will not be able to provide you care.
Our provider needs to perform a comprehensive evaluation for every new patient. You can present the previous prescription to your provider and it will be taken into account when crafting your personalized treatment plan.
Your provider will help determine whether continuing your previous treatment plan is still a good option for you.
Yes. An evaluation does not guarantee any particular diagnoses or medication. Our provider will evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe, if medically appropriate.
Absolutely! GoodMind and its associated platform is HIPAA compliant and follows all HIPAA requirements including, but not limited to, the Privacy Rule.
We only accept a valid photo ID that is not expired. You may not receive a prescription without proper identification, and most pharmacies will not dispense controlled substances without an in-state photo ID.
Prior to your first consultation, we will supply you with intake forms and assessments to fill out. Typically, these documents give your provider sufficient information to diagnose your condition and propose treatment options.
Having your medical history and any relevant notes on-hand will be beneficial when completing these forms and can also be valuable during your consultation.
Should your provider need your full medical history, we will guide you on how to securely share this information with us.
An out-of-network provider refers to a medication provider who does not have a contractual agreement with any health insurance plans or provider networks. This means that when visiting Kristen, payment is due at the time of service and an active card must be on-file to continue service.
When receiving services from an out-of-network provider your health insurance may not fully reimburse you for the costs of the medical services received, or may not cover them at all.
A Superbill is a detailed document that lists the healthcare services you received during a visit with your provider. Kristen can provide superbills to her patients when requested, which include the procedure codes and charges for each services. These bills can be used by you or your insurance company for billing and reimbursement purposes. Please consult with your insurance company for any questions about your plan prior to your visit. You can submit a superbill to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
